43 year-old Ian Gary Wynne of Monkhill Avenue, Pontefract, held up the Micklegate frozen foods store last October, getting away with £2,220 in cash.
Wynne held an imitation hand gun only inches from the store's assistant manager as he demanded that she handed over the money leaving her "absolutely petrified".
The raid, described by Judge Stephen Ashurst as "professional" and "planned", was the latest in Wynne's 'career' following a series of similar robberies in the 1990s on travel agents and bookmakers.
Wynne has previously served a ten year sentence for offences relating to similar robberies.
