The application seeks permission for 'change of use' of the former Everatts furniture store on Gowthorpe to become a 'traditional public house'.
In supporting statements, JD Wetherspoon said, 'It is intended to create a destination pub within Selby that will enhance the street scene and also offer and reference local heritage and history'.
In November last year it was confirmed to local media that Wetherspoons had exchanged contracts to purchase the vacant unit with a view to opening a new watering hole at the location.
The sale followed the closure of the iconic Everatts furniture store, which closed in September at the end of more than 75 years of trading in Selby.
A table of operating hours included with the application suggest that the new pub could be operational until 01:30 am over Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights, with a 00:30 curfew during the rest of the week.
The application is expected to be determined by council planners sometime around mid-march.
