Selby District weekend sports round-up

Dan Stevenson Monday, 23 January 2012 12:30

Your sporting round up for Selby District teams over the weekend ending 22 January.

Brighouse 6 - 0 Selby Town

Selby Town took another hammering on Saturday as they travelled to mid-tabled Brighouse Town.

The game got off to a bad start with a Selby own goal in the 14th minute.  Just minutes later, Anthony Haigh put another one past the Robins goalkeeper in the 16th and then again in the 28th.

As half time came, with a 3-1 scoreline, the game was probably already lost for the ailing Robins who are now rooted at the foot of the Baris NCEL Premier Division.

But the second half brought more misery for the away team as Nick Jagger got his satisfaction in the 52nd minute of play, followed closely behind by Tom Matthews in the 58th.

By the time of James Sutcliffe's 81st minute penalty, there was only one saving grace for Selby - the fact that only 60 people showed up to watch their humiliating defeat!

Tadcaster Albion 0 - 2 Armthorpe Welfare

Tad sink to fifth in the league as they failed to defeat their 11th place opponents at home.

Armthorpe Welfare too the lead after 25 minutes with a goal from James Walker.  A second goal from Joe Lumsden put the game beyond reach for Albion in the 39th minute.
