The torch will travel through Camblesforth, Selby, Monk Fryston, Barkston Ash and Tadcaster on June 19 as it makes it's way to York for an overnight stay.
Locals in each of the Selby towns and villages that the torch will pass through are busy organising events to celebrate the torches arrival.
Parish and Town Councils, local schools and community groups are all involved in the planning of activities, so that people from surrounding communities can come along and share in the excitement of the Torch Relay.
They are being supported by District Council and County Council colleagues, alongside the Police, Fire and Rescue Service and Selby College.
On its route around the UK the torch will pass through 1,000 villages, towns and cities before ending up at the new Olympic venue in London.
But disappointment is still apparent in the town of Sherburn after it was discovered that the torch relay will avoid the town, taking a detour via the A162, on it's way to Tadcaster.
A facebook campaign set up by disappointed residents with the aim of persuading the relay planners to alter their route has already attracted over 180 members.
Deputy Leader of Selby District Council, Cllr Gillian Ivey, said "We're delighted that the Olympic Torch Relay will be coming through our district, passing through Camblesforth, Selby, Monk Fryston, Barkston Ash and Tadcaster. This gives residents of the district a unique and very special opportunity to witness the spectacle of the Olympic Flame, and to come along and join in the celebrations as we welcome the flame and the torchbearers into our communities to mark the countdown to the London 2012 Olympics".
she added, "It's a real opportunity to show off the growing community spirit in our towns and villages".
More information on activities and celebrations along the Torch relay route will be released by each of the town and parish councils involved over the coming months.
