Fire at Selby flat caused by 'unattended microwave'

North Yorkshire Fire Service were called to a Selby flat yesterday evening after fire broke out caused by an unattended microwave oven.

Officers were dispatched to the scene just before 6 pm following the activation of a fire alarm in the flat in Ebor Court, off Millgate.

 

Two fire appliances from Selby and an Officer were sent at attend the kitchen fire.

 

The flat's two occupants were already outside of the property prior to the arrival of fire crews, but required medical assistance due to smoke inhalation.

 

The male and female occupants of the property, both in their 60s, were treated by paramedics for smoke inhalation.

 

Fire crews extinguished fire wearing breathing apparatus and used 1 hose.  The property was then ventilated using a 'Positive Pressure' ventilation fan.
