North Yorks adult care provision report

Tuesday, 10 January 2012 18:37

An in-depth look at the provision of services for adult social care has been published by North Yorkshire County Council in support of a Government-initiated drive for openness and transparency.

The Local Account describes how the county council believes it has performed in delivering adult social care to the people of North Yorkshire in 2010/11 and sets out priorities for the next year and beyond. The Local Account will become an annual statement produced by every council which provides social care services.

In this first Local Account, the council gives details of its adult social care services and explains why it needs to modernise and transform its services - and how it will set about doing so. The council also explains how it spends its money and how the Government is changing the role of the council as a result of reforms in the National Health Service.

County Councillor Clare Wood, executive member for adult social care said, 'I am very proud of the achievements and performance of adult social care services over the last 18 months, particularly in these financially challenging times. I see the Local Account as being an important publication in the future, as it will allow the local community to understand and challenge the performance of the services that we deliver on their behalf. I would very much welcome views regarding the contents of the Local Account, which would help us to develop future versions.'
