Selby Town FCs logoSelby Town Football Club was established in 1919 and was a founding member of the old Yorkshire League. During the period between 1930 and the 1950s, Selby Town was amongst the most successful in the league, winning the competition five times. In 1954 the team, also known as 'The Robins', also reached the 2nd round of the prestigious FA Cup.
In 1982, the old Yorkshire League was replaced by the Northern Counties East League which consists of a 'premier division' and a 'first division'. Selby Town was drafted into the leagues first division where it remained until it was promoted to the premier division in the 1995/6 season.
Today, The Robins, are still playing in the NCEL Premier (9th tier of football in England) and are regularly found in the top half of the division fighting for promotion to the Unibond League.
Selby Town play their home fixtures at their ground on Richard Street in Selby. Their ground currently has a capacity of 5,000 spectators. It is expected that within the next few years, the team will move to a new facility which is to be built close to the Selby College in Abbots Road.
